Increasing Human Efficiency in Business by Walter Dill Scott

Walter Dill Scott was a pioneer who linked psychology to business and advertising. His works on advertising first appeared in 1903 and 1909 and remain classics in the field. His publication on managing behavior to improve business performance first appeared in 1911 and remains available today. Contemporaries on performance in manufacturing were F. W. Taylor and Frank B. Gilbert. He developed measurement scales that helped predict a job applicant’s success in a given position. A modified version was used successfully by the military in WWI. Later Scott served as President of Northwestern University for nearly 20 years.
